The Seeker's Path

Today in my morning prayer time, I was listening on YouTube to Ennio Morricone conduct his orchestra and choir performing his brilliant soundtrack for “The Mission.”

The stores are filled with back-to-school supplies. The first stray, colored leaves are starting to appear on the grass and sidewalks.

There’s a painting of a tree showing the limbs in each season, and we talk about meeting the face of God in each season, and today I’m wondering what the God of Summer’s face is like.

I’m not sure I ever felt LONGING for Pentecost. But who of us has not felt the Pentecost scene—hiding in an upper room, in fear, or dread, or confusion or loss, much as the first followers of Jesus did.

At the core of our faith is the dual mystery of death and resurrection.
